Botox is the most popular non-invasive beauty treatment among brides-to-be, new research has found.
Website RealSelf revealed that 14.8 per cent of all reviews on the platform that mention weddings or getting married were for Botox, almost double the next most popular treatment, CoolSculpting, with 8.4 per cent.
Speaking to Allure about the results, Debra Jaliman, a dermatologist based in New York City, said that it’s not surprising that more and more brides are turning to beauty treatments like Botox ahead of their big day.
“The great thing about these treatments is that they are quick, easy, effective and [natural-looking],” she stated.
However, Manhattan-based dermatologist Dr Joshua Zeichner cautioned that no one should have Botox for the first time just before their wedding. He recommends having the first treatment a few months before the big day and then a second one a few weeks ahead of the ceremony.
Aside from Botox and CoolSculpting – a non-invasive weight loss procedure – the other treatments brides-to-be are turning to are Invisalign for an enhanced smile, and dermal fillers to restore volume to the skin.
Dermal fillers are a particularly versatile treatment, as they can be used for everything from plumping lips and filling fine lines to cheek augmentation and dealing with hollows under the eyes.
RealSelf added that it isn’t just brides who are opting for non-invasive cosmetic procedures ahead of their wedding day, noting that many future grooms also have Botox, teeth whitening and smile enhancing procedures carried out before their big day.
